We use the Internet every day, but how exactly does it work? Code.org’s new video series sets out to chip away at that question. The video series, “How the Internet Works,” stars guest lecturers from top technology companies to shed light on the building blocks of the Internet. Each video addresses a different component that makes up the Internet from Wi-Fi to IP addresses, HTML to cybersecurity – with Symantec’s Director of Cybersecurity Investigations, Jennifer Martin, starring in the Cybersecurity & Crime video! “It was a fun experience and an honor to represent Symantec in a project that reaches so many kids through such an accessible format. It was a privilege to contribute to the great online body of educational materials that Code.org continues to produce,” Martin said.
Alongside Parisa Tabriz from Google, Jennifer Martin talks about how cybercrime works and the steps we each can take to protect ourselves. In fact, as they mentioned in the video, “Ninety percent of the time a system gets hacked, it is not because of a security bug but because of a simple mistake made by a human.” Check out the fun and informative video to learn about software viruses, DDoS and Phishing scams.
