NitroDesk and Symantec have had a long history of partnering together on secure email solutions. One of the attractive aspects of the merger was the fact that a key focus for both companies is security. Combined, we aspire to bring to enterprise customers a set of offerings that leverage aspects of mobility and security from a vast array of components that are readily available within the Symantec portfolio. These include DLP, Mobile Application Management, Identity and Access Management, archival, secure file sharing and others.

It has been about three months since the acquisition. During this time, several things have changed in Symantec as well as the NitroDesk business.
Focus on Android and iOS platforms
Product management has been analyzing the NitroDesk product portfolio and making the hard choices around which products to continue, which platforms and versions to continue and on which markets to continue publishing the products in. Additionally, serious thought has been put into the overall Symantec Mobility Solutions path forward, where to make the investments, which aspects of the products to improve and timeframes for those improvements.
The good news is that we are going to focus our immediate efforts on our flagship Android platform and iOS platform for TouchDown. For a small percentage of customers who are using Mac OS and Windows 8.1 versions, the products will temporarily be removed from the app stores until a later time. Existing Mac and Windows users will continue to receive support through Symantec.
Continued Support for TouchDown™
One of the major concerns from NitroDesk customers and partners during the process is how customers will continue to receive support and maintenance for TouchDown. We have strived to ensure that disruptions in support would be kept to a minimum, and appreciate your patience as the new products are being integrated into the Symantec support system.
The original support personnel from NitroDesk oversee the support queues, which helps to ensure that all the tribal knowledge from the past several years can be applied to both existing and new customers. This means a response within 24 hours on US working days, and in most cases, responses within an hour depending on the load. Note, however, that the original TouchDown/NitroDesk forums had to be discontinued and moved over to Symantec Connect: TouchDown Forum. While forums are a good way for customers and partners to exchange ideas and solutions, we always encourage you to write directly to support if you are experiencing an issue that you need direct help with.

Upcoming Releases for TouchDown™
While the cycle of releases of the product to the market has been temporarily paused, behind the scenes the engineering team is still ensuring that major issues are being addressed so that when we are ready to update the product the highest severity issues are addressed already.
Look forward to an update coming soon with iOS 8 support, followed by a bigger release to address known issues and a light rebranding. Additionally, we have another release planned before the end of the year to give a much-needed facelift and usability improvements for the product, starting with the iOS version. Keep following us here on the Managing Mobility blog for up-to-date information on releases.
The enterprise version of TouchDown, called Symantec Secure Email, will continue to work hand-in-hand with Symantec App Center to provide enterprises with a complete mobile productivity suite. Future enhancements to this product will center on adding enterprise capabilities, such as integrations with other Symantec security products and simplified enrollment and management features.
