So do to some horrific connectivity issues, what was supposed to be yesterday's introductory VMworld blog has become today's introductory VMworld blog.  Please timeshift your reading accordingly...

Today is the first day of the 10th version of VMworld.  This year, we’re back in San Francisco, which is SO much better than Las Vegas.  There’s just something about this town that puts me in a Big Idea frame of mind…maybe it’s because Star Fleet builds there Academy here in a few years…I don’t know, but there’s a lot going on.

This year’s theme is Defy Convention.  I think that is an interesting choice given the choice of venue and the presence of the major players in the IT industry, present company included (heh….see what I did there).  Lots of the big companies are being pushed into new ways of thinking by smaller, nimble new players.

The Software Defined Data Center is the heart of this year’s show and all companies great and small are pitching their wares for Security, Compliance & Business Continuity.  Symantec is bringing its all-star line-up of vExperts leading sessions on the role of Business Continuity in the SDDC.

There is a lot of excitement about these sessions.  In fact, Rasheed’s sold out so fast VMworld reached out to him to schedule a second session to meet the demand.

Watch this space as we’re going to be all over VMworld for the week.  Follow @Symantec & @PackMatt73 on Twitter for all the action.  We’ll be interviewing attendees, posting videos, blogging & Tweeting everything that is going at VMworld.  If you’re here at the show, come by booth #1537.  We’ve got some great sessions in our theatre as well.  Ask some hard questions.  Our experts in Security, Compliance and Backup & Recovery are here to provide the answers.
